Addiction Counseling Online Degree Programs and Schools

The study of addiction counseling prepares students to help people who have issues with gambling, drugs, alcohol, eating disorders and many other psychological issues. The coursework includes screening and assessment methods at the beginning of treatment, the study of the impact of the patient’s behavior on themselves, their family, and society, and how to issue treatment. Bachelor’s degrees in addiction counseling will provide students with the knowledge and training needed to understand the patient’s behavior and help treat them. Most state licensing to become a counselor requires a master’s degree. Master’s degrees will often include a form of practical training within a clinic in order to ensure the student’s skills are developed enough for entry into the professional field and will allow them to get licensed within their state.
