Military service members have access to financial aid opportunities from the government, private institutions and public organizations. Many programs exist to support military worker who wish to continue their education.

Schools such as Grantham University offer military members and veterans an opportunity to earn a degree in a convenient and affordable format. The online university has several military scholarship programs, as well as Veterans Services staff, tutoring and mentoring programs, and a career service office.

Grantham recently announced that it will be providing tuition assistance to one member of the U.S.S. Missouri's crew through a partnership with the submarine's Commissioning Committee. The winning sailor will be awarded a full-tuition scholarship to earn an undergraduate or graduate degree from the university.

The scholarship is valued at approximately $36,000 and will cover tuition costs, required textbooks and software, as well as a laptop so the recipient can continue learning at sea.

"We are proud to provide this scholarship to a deserving sailor and continue the university's 60-year tradition of meeting the educational needs of service members and veterans," said Cynthia Hoss, interim president of Grantham University.

Online universities may be particularly attractive to military service members and other nontraditional students who would like to acquire new skills but do not have the time to do so in a conventional setting.ADNFCR-3211-ID-19912056-ADNFCR
