Representatives from Central Lakes College (CLC) in Minnesota have announced that with the assistance of St. Cloud University, the school will now offer students the chance to earn bachelors degree credits in community psychology. Classes for the inaugural semester are slated to begin on August 23, according to the Northland Press.
Courses offered through the new program include abnormal psychology, human development, general psychology, personal growth and behavior as well as psychology and modern growth.
Martha Kuehn, a psychology professor at CLC, told the news source that "this articulation agreement will open a pathway for psychology students to move smoothly into a bachelors level program at St. Cloud State." She added that "students can take psychology classes at CLC which will transfer into the Community Psychology major at SCSU."
Over the next eight years, the employment of psychologists is expected to increase by 12 percent, and the demand will create approximately 19,700 new jobs, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports.
