As the country moves forward in integrating energy efficient alternatives into everyday life, students who are pursuing a degree in sustainability may see a change in their curricula. In order to find out how to prepare these future professionals, organizations nationwide are releasing reports that highlight what U.S. citizens want for their country.
For example, The Electrification Coalition (EC) recently published a national poll, which found that regardless of political party affiliation, Americans are in favor of various green technology initiatives, including the production of electric cars.
In addition to the manufacturing of eco-friendly vehicles, participants in the poll supported the use of tax credits to help launch the production of electric cars. Voters also felt that making these vehicles would create new jobs and improve the environment.
Furthermore, the respondents admitted that the more they were informed about developing initiatives, the more they would support these efforts.
Robbie Diamond, president of EC, stated that "people are in favor of a national plan to deploy electric vehicles and infrastructure, starting in cities selected in a competitive process." He added that "typical Americans have seen firsthand the consequences of our addiction to oil, and they not only understand the enormous potential of electric vehicles, but have made it clear that they will support policymakers who lead on this issue."
