Individuals who are looking to obtain skills that can lead to advancements in their careers may consider enrolling in certificate programs. Students who become certified in various fields, including business management, may become qualified for promotions and salary raises.
For example, New Hampshire-based Durham College has launched a new managerial training certificate program, which will prepare students for administrative positions in their careers. Enrollees have the opportunity to take individual classes offered through this option, or they complete the 240-credit program.
Students will take courses in applied problem solving, modern management methods, effective team work strategies and workplace transition. Individuals will also learn administrative techniques, communication skills and ways to motivate employees.
Judy Robinson, vice president of academics at Durham, stated that "staff have considered the popularity of existing courses, community requirements, employability skills and created a program for instruction." She added that this certificate program was "developed with feedback from current and previous students in management related courses."
During the next eight years, the employment of administrative service managers is expected to increase by 12 percent, and the demand will create approximately 32,300 new jobs, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports.
