As the role of students continues to evolve, schools are making an effort to provide educational opportunities that accommodate the needs of today's future degree holders. For example, academic institutions nationwide are launching new online education programs or offering their campus-based degrees through distance learning.
For instance, Remington College, an accredited distance learning academic institution, has announced it will accept students up until July 26 for the second semester of summer online programs. Among the offerings, individuals can enroll in three web-based bachelors programs or pursue two associates degrees.
Undergraduate studies include criminal justice, organizational management and business administration with specializations in accounting, general business, human resources, management as well as marketing. The associates programs concentrate in criminal justice and paralegal studies.
Dale Leatherwood, president of the school's online programs, stated that these degrees offer "the flexibility and convenience that many people need to complete their education goals." He added that "our mission is to bring quality education and personalized service to online learning."
The U.S. Distance Learning Association reports that approximately 3.5 million college students are currently taking web-based classes and/or earning a degree through online education.
