Engineering students who wish to gain experience in other countries may want to consider enrolling in campus-based or online degree programs that allow them to obtain an education abroad.
Individuals can earn two degrees by spending time at more than one university during a four-year period. At the Georgia Institute of Technology (GIT), students can study either computer or electrical engineering for two years. Enrollees will spend the same amount of time at the Korea Advanced Institute in Daejeon, South Korea. Gary May, GIT's chair of computer and electrical engineering says that by coming together, the two schools "will create opportunities to educate students who possesses the skills for excelling in a dynamic global environment."
This type of program may be even more appealing for students who wish to make a high salary once they graduate. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that two years ago, electrical engineers made $85,350 annually. Computer engineers can expect to be in high demand, as more than 295,000 new positions for these professionals are slated to become available over the next eight years.
