Scholarships help lead students to educational success

The number of individuals returning to school is rising and one way to ease the financial transition is to seek scholarship opportunities. Candidacy for a scholarship can be based on academics, degree specification, extra-curricular activities and many other qualifications.

With such a high demand for nurses, the field of study has many financial aid opportunities for prospective students. One scholarship that has become available is the Nurse Educators of Tomorrow (NET), awarded to nursing students who are residents and enrolled in a school in North Carolina. To be used for the 2010-2011 academic year, 80 new scholarships in the amount of $15,000 per year are available for up to two years to a student earning a masters degree and up to three years to a doctoral degree candidate, the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (NCSEAA) reported.

Candidates interested in the NET scholarship must maintain a grade point average of 3.2 and be enrolled in either a masters or doctoral degree that will prepare them for teaching positions in nursing. Applications for the awards will be accepted permitting available funds.ADNFCR-3211-ID-19694429-ADNFCR
