Scholarships available for students studying science and math

The science, technology and math industries offer a wide range of career opportunities. For individuals who are obtaining a degree in either of these fields, scholarship money is increasing.

American City Business Journals reports that the University of North Carolina-Greensboro (UNCG) recently received $32,485 in scholarship money from the National Science Foundation. The grant will go toward students' financial needs who are working to obtain a degree in either of these fields.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are many science-related industries that will produce an increasing amount of jobs over the next eight years. For example, there will be nearly 32,000 new positions created for science technicians. Those within the math sector may decide to become teachers, as they also hold a significant amount of jobs. As of 2008 there were 54,800 careers at the post-secondary level within this field.

Students may want to consider furthering their education in the math or science industry as there are more places providing scholarship money, making it easier for these individuals to obtain a degree and find a career within a leading industry.
