As the expenses of obtaining a bachelors degree continues to rise, more organizations across the country are launching scholarship programs to make higher education more affordable. By establishing these financial aid opportunities, these institutes are helping students pay for tuition, housing, books, fees and other costs.

In an effort to encourage students to pursue degrees in mathematics, science and engineering, the Construction Industry Council (CIC) of Westchester and Hudson Valley has announced the recipients of this year's Louis G. Nappi Construction Labor-Management Scholarships. A total of 10 winners were awarded $3,000 each in scholarships, which are to be used towards paying for bachelor degree programs in these fields.

Recipients include high school graduates residing in Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Columbia, Ulster, Orange or Rockland county. In addition to their interest in a career in mathematics, science or engineering, individuals were chosen based on academic success, work experience, and their need for financial assistance.

Qualified candidates included students whose relatives are employees of companies or affiliates of the CIC, and who are active members of the Laborers International Union of N. A. Local 60, International Union of Operating Engineers Local 137 and International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 456.ADNFCR-3211-ID-19906453-ADNFCR
