
Earning a higher education is full of challenges, especially when it comes to finding a way to cover expenses. To improve the number of enrolling students, many schools are now offering scholarships for some of the fields of study they offer, including bachelors or masters degrees in business.
Rutgers University's School of Management and Labor Relations (SMLR) recently announced the establishment of the Smiley Fellowships in honor of Robert W. Smiley Jr. Smiley is a chair and managing director at the Benefit Capital Companies, a national group of merchant banking firms located in California, Hawaii, Nevada, New York and Texas.
Recipients of this scholarship will be awarded with $5,000 in financial assistance to be used towards their higher education expenses.
This degree program provides students with an education that encourages the study of significant issues related to broad-based employee ownership in American history. Future degree holders will also research developments in social science and policy studies.
"[We will use this funding] to encourage students to examine these important issues in past and contemporary American history," said David Finegold, dean of the degree program.
The top earners among those who have earned a masters degree can make up to $2,221 more per week compared to those with a bachelors degree, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports.
