In an effort to give today's students more educational opportunities outside the classroom, organizations have launched national conventions that specialize in various fields of study. In addition to providing attendees with the chance to work with students, faculty and industry experts, these events allow individuals to earn course credits for their participation.

At this year's Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) conference, Capella University will offer two courses, allowing students to earn a total of 5 credits. Students have the option to obtain these course hours either through the school's website or at the conference booth, and use them towards pursuing a career in human resources.

One of the offerings is called Creating Change Without Wreaking Havoc, which educates students about pursuing and furthering a career in human resources during an economic downturn. The other class is Textual Harassment, which informs individuals about the dangers of aggressive behavior found in the use of social networking media, including phones, email and the internet.

During the next eight years, the employment of human resources managers is projected to increase by 10 percent, and will create approximately 12,900 new jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.ADNFCR-3211-ID-19863909-ADNFCR
