Publishing company announces winner of Dr Suess scholarship

To assist the growing number of students who are pursuing higher education, many organizations are creating scholarship opportunities that can help pay for school. Individuals who apply for these financial aid options can benefit from earning a degree at an affordable cost.

Random House Children's Books, a publishing company, has awarded the first annual Oh, the Places You'll Go! scholarship, which was established to honor the 20th anniversary of Dr Suess's best-selling book. The company created this opportunity to emphasize the positive message of the book about overcoming life's obstacles.

One high school senior was the recipient of $5,000 in financial assistance to be used towards higher education, including tuition, books, housing and other education costs.

The winner was chosen based on an essay submission, which had to be original, creative and encompass the spirit of the book, the scholarship's website reports. The essay was selected by a panel of judges that included representatives from Random House, Dr Suess Enterprises and the educational community.

Students who wish to participate in the 2011 essay contest can submit entries at the beginning of November.ADNFCR-3211-ID-19785439-ADNFCR
