Business professionals who wish to improve their skills at an affordable cost, but can't commit to a traditional course schedule, can benefit from scholarships and web-based bachelors degree programs. By taking advantage of these opportunities, students can obtain new skills at their own pace and be able to afford educational expenses.
Western Governors University (WGU) is one school that recently created an opportunity for business professionals to advance their education at a lower cost. The academic institution has announced the launching of the Future Business Leadership Scholarship program, which will benefit individuals who began their careers and are looking to obtain a bachelors degree.
A total of 20 current business professionals will be given up to $3,000 each in financial assistance to be used towards enrolling in one of the school's web-based business degree programs. Individuals must have already earned an associates degree or accumulated 60 course credits, and maintained a GPA of 3.2 or higher.
Programs that eligible candidates can enroll in include accounting, business administration, human resources management, information technology, marketing and sales administration.
July 31 is the last day interested individuals can submit application forms, letters of recommendation and an essay, the school's website reports.
Government statistics suggest that during the next eight years, the employment of human resources managers is expected to increase by 20 percent, and the demand will create approximately 12,9000 new jobs.
