Online degree programs provide flexibility for education students, current teachers

In an effort to make advancing one's skills in early childhood education easier, schools nationwide are launching online bachelors degrees in this field. Education students and current professionals who enroll in these programs can benefit from enhancing their knowledge without being constrained by a traditional course schedule.

For example, Park University has announced the launching of a web-based undergraduate program, which will benefit preschool teachers and directors who wish to improve their skills without having to quit their jobs. The Missouri-based academic institution created this degree in an effort to provide more online options that meet the requirements of the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

"The coursework is not only practical, but also designed to challenge teachers to reflect on their work with young children, families and community," said Amy Wolf, assistant professor of education at Park University. She added that "additional leadership coursework also enables directors to learn and apply effective administrative and leadership strategies."

Government statistics suggest that during the next eight years, the demand for preschool and kindergarten teachers is expected to create an estimated 113,700 new jobs nationwide.ADNFCR-3211-ID-19893260-ADNFCR
