Online degree opportunities may boost business student interest

Enrolling in graduate school, to pursue a masters degree in business provides many advantages for students interested in furthering their education. To further boost individuals' access to higher education, schools are offering an opportunity to earn masters degrees online, which can lower education costs and allow students to work at their own pace.

The University of Denver's Daniels College of Business is one of the many schools that now offer a one-year MBA masters degree program through distance learning that will be available starting in August. Student may specialize in several concentrations, including marketing, innovation, entrepreneurship, finance, accounting, or real estate and construction management.

Also included in their curriculum will be business ethics and values-based leadership theories.

Christine Riordan, dean of the Daniels College of Business, stated that enrolled students will gain "critical thinking skills and the technical knowledge that the marketplace expects from an MBA graduate." She added that future degree holders will develop "an ability to navigate in times of changing business models."

In the next eight years, employment of accountants and auditors is projected to increase by 22 percent, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports. By 2018, nearly 279,400 new jobs in the field are expected to be created.ADNFCR-3211-ID-19716588-ADNFCR
