Prospective students who are interested in learning opportunities outside of the classroom, in fields such as nursing or pharmacy may find professional forums to be useful. These events allow future degree holders to network with experts from across the medical industry and learn about developing trends within the field that may not be covered in school.
One organization that recently announced an upcoming industry forum is the Babson College MBA Healthcare and Life Sciences Club. The event will allow attendees to meet a variety of speakers and panelists that will discuss a range of topics, including female talent within the healthcare and life sciences industry, funding opportunities, trends in entrepreneurship and the impact of social media on health information.
Among the speakers in attendance will be Matthew Emmens, chairman, president and CEO of Vertex Pharmaceuticals, who will share his 33 years of experience in the industry. Jonathan Bush, co-founder, CEO, president and chairman of AthenaHealth, an insurance company, will also be speaking at the forum.
By 2018, employment of pharmacy technicians and aides is expected to grow by 25 percent, which will create nearly 96,300 new jobs, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports.
