Students who wish to land a career in dentistry will discover that some schools are home to facilities that aim to provide these individuals with more hands-on training. For example, the Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University recently announced that it has received a grant worth more than $2 million, which will go toward the construction of a new dental clinic, The Temple News reports.
The facility will open next summer and is available for both students and faculty members at the institution, as well as North Philadelphia residents. Amid Ismail, dean of the dental school, told the newspaper that the building will not only serve as a community health center, but that it will also help to educate both dentists and enrollees.
Temple will also implement a new master of public health program for dental residents, according to the newspaper. Individuals who choose to enroll in this course of study will spend their first year of residency in the clinic, according to the newspaper. The remaining two years will be split between time in the facility and in the classroom.
Individuals who are interested in dentistry occupations will find that this field is expected to produce many job opportunities in the future. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that positions for dentists will increase by 16 percent over the next eight years.
