Medical scientists could benefit from graduate certificate programs

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) estimates that medical scientists will see 44,200 new jobs over the next eight years. As healthcare providers continue to require more highly educated professionals in this field, individuals may benefit from a graduate certificate program in clinical research and drug-trial management.

Fortunately, some schools are combining their efforts to help degree seekers complete this type of program whether it be in the classroom or through Web-based learning.

For example, Michigan State University (MSU) along with Grand Valley State University will offer a graduate certificate program in this field starting next fall, according to Michigan Live.

Lou Anna Simon, MSU president, tells the newspaper that students at the school have continued to produce medical findings and by providing this type of program, the institution has created a "mecca for health education, health research and making a difference in the world.

This type of program could also benefit individuals other than medical scientists. According to the BLS, other occupations in the medicine and pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, such as engineering, also conduct clinical research studies on new drugs.
