Students who earn an MBA degree could become marketing directors, financial controllers of chief executive officers, all of which offer a high salary, according to Payscale.com. Professionals in these positions may earn more than $100,000 per year.

Some schools are continuing to increase their offerings in an effort to offer more convenient ways for students to complete an MBA program. For example, North Carolina State University recently announced it will provide this degree in a Web-based format.

School officials said that there have been many inquiries from students regarding an online MBA in the past, which prompted this addition.

The new program is designed for working professionals, international students or those who frequently travel. Many stay-at-home parents are also expected to enroll.

The degree will focus on emerging technologies as a whole, as students will learn how to evaluate, develop and pursue an innovative workplace environment. The curriculum will also cover leadership and management in the global marketplace.

Enrollees will participate in online discussion boards, and learn through podcasts and streaming videos.

Students who obtain similar MBA degrees may decide to become financial analysts. Positions for these professionals are expected to increase by 20 percent over the next decade, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
