Individuals who are working towards, or have obtained, a postsecondary degree in business, and would like to further develop their skills in an interactive setting can benefit from state- and nationwide entrepreneurship competitions. Those who take advantage of these events may have the opportunity to network with field experts and work with a team of their peers.
For example, the finalists of the annual MassChallenge entrepreneurship competition have been announced, and they include a total of 10 Babson College students and graduates who are pursuing entrepreneurial careers. The winners will be announced in October.
The finalists receive a variety of benefits to help them win the event, including a partnership with an industry mentor, free law firm services and access to office and lab facilities. The mentors will guide the teams towards perfecting the goals and milestones they wish to reach with their businesses, methods of executing these plans as well as final proposals.
Students who complete degree programs in entrepreneurship and business management may be qualified for high-paying careers. During their first year, small business owners earn annual salaries ranging from $34,706 to $74,220, according to PayScale.com, a research company.
