Due to high competitiveness in the job market for professionals with a background in hospitality or restaurant administration, more individuals are returning to school to advance their education. In an effort to improve their professional value without stalling their careers, many students are taking advantage of web-based degree programs in this field of study.
For example, the Le Cordon Bleu Schools (LCB) will now offer an online associate degree in occupational studies, which will benefit individuals who wish to become qualified for management positions in the hospitality and restaurant industries. Depending on the student's availability, the degree can be obtained in 15 or 21 months.
Students who enroll in this program will be introduced to business fundamentals in both fields, and will be equipped with administrative skills that include working with employees, consumers, suppliers and competitors. Curriculum will also include food and beverage management, wine studies, hospitality business law, dining room management and cost control.
"We are committed to providing our students with the flexible options they need to advance in their careers," said Kirk T. Bachmann, vice president of academics at LCB. He added that "the online platform allows for students to complete their degree anytime, anywhere, and with this option students are able to pursue their passion in the field, while advancing their education online."
