Hospitality organization announces annual scholarship winners

Pursuing a career in hospitality management can lead to a variety of career opportunities at different lodging locations all over the world. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), these professionals make sure their customers, whether they're away from home for business or pleasure, have everything they need for a welcoming stay, including appropriate room and food accommodations.

In an effort to assist students who are enrolling in postsecondary degree programs in this specialization, the Myrtle Beach Area Hospitality Association has awarded five students academic scholarships to help them pay for school, according to WMBFNew.com.

Three of this year's recipients have already been accepted to Coastal Carolina University's resort tourism management program, while the other two winners have enrolled in the culinary arts technology program at Horry-Georgetown Technical College.

Stephen Green, president of the association, told the news source that "these individuals represent the future of the hospitality industry." He added that "we are proud to support and encourage the next generation."

In 2008, the average annual earnings of lodging managers ranged from $28,160 to $84,270, the BLS reports.ADNFCR-3211-ID-19903235-ADNFCR
