Government funding may launch scholarship opportunities for healthcare students

The demand for healthcare professionals is growing nationwide, and some individuals looking for job opportunities are enrolling in or returning to school to pursue a degree in this field. In an effort to assist those already advancing their education in healthcare, and to encourage others to consider careers in this sector, the government has been providing schools with funding.

For example, Texas Women's University (TWU) was recently awarded $900,000, which will help launch scholarship opportunities for students enrolled in the school's nursing and occupational therapy programs. This funding is a portion of a $96 million grant given to academic institutions across the country by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, according to the Denton Record-Chronicle.

TWU students working towards obtaining these degrees will be eligible for financial assistance opportunities, which will help them enroll in more classes throughout the academic year. Those who take advantage of the availability of these scholarships will have the chance to finish their education faster and begin their careers sooner, the news source reports.

Over the next eight years, the employment of occupational therapists is expected to grow by 26 percent, and approximately 26,800 jobs will be created nationwide, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.ADNFCR-3211-ID-19910243-ADNFCR
