Those who are interested in earning an associates, bachelors or masters degree and are in need of financial assistance can find many opportunities through schools and organizations. Individuals can be awarded scholarships and other financial aid based on a variety of criteria, including multicultural background.
One organization that created this type of opportunity is Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance (MassMutual), which recently announced its eighth annual MassMutual Scholars Program. It will award $350,000 in financial assistance to 27 recipients who are of African-American, Asian/Pacific Islander or Hispanic descent.
Eligible candidates are required to enter their sophomore, junior, senior or fifth year at a four-year school and be enrolled full-time in business, economics, finance, financial planning, management, marketing or sales degree programs. Qualified candidates must also be U.S. citizens or legal residents who live in or plan to attend school in California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey or Texas.
Interested students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher are asked to complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and need to demonstrate leadership and extra curricular activities in their application.
May 30 is the last day to submit applications.
