
Marketing managers held more than 175,000 positions in the U.S. as of 2008 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Individuals who wish to obtain a degree in this field may find there is an increasing amount of opportunity as there will be 21,900 new jobs in this field over the next decade.
For students who are receiving an education in marketing, there are scholarships available to assist them in paying for their tuition. One company, the Chicago Interactive Marketing Association (CIMA) recently awarded three academic scholarships to local students.
The financial aid was given to three students who are pursuing a career in the digital aspect of the marketing industry and have shown outstanding leadership skills. Camille Fetter, vice president of academic affairs for CIMA, says that the organization wants to reward students in the area because "education is very important." She added that the company is looking forward to "supporting the professional success" of the individuals who received the scholarships.
Students may also discover that a career in this field can offer a rewarding salary. According to Payscale.com, marketing directors have the potential to make more than $122,000 each year.
