As the demand for health sector professionals continues to rise, schools nationwide are creating new initiatives that will expand educational opportunities for students pursuing health-related degrees. Also, these opportunities may benefit healthcare organizations that look to enhance the way in which they run their business.
For instance, the University of Miami School of Business Administration has launched the Center for Health Sector Management and Policy. The new establishment will be available to both local healthcare businesses and students who are pursuing health administration degrees.
This center will provide a variety of services, including consultations, which will assist health sector companies in supply chain management, healthcare economics, cost-effective analysis, compliance as well as physician process management. Prospective students will also have improved access to degree programs, which will be housed in the facility, including a business certificate for physicians.
Steven Ullmann, director of the new center, stated that "by bringing together leading experts and other health sector resources in this manner, we can impact public policy, help organizations optimize performance, and shape the future of our healthcare system."
By 2018, the employment of all healthcare industry professionals is expected to grow by 22 percent, which is faster than the 10 percent expected for all other occupations, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports.
