Distance learning receives higher approval by future employers

Many prospective students who are looking into online education in order to earn a degree at an affordable cost and be able to work or be with family. As enrollment in distance learning continues to grow, more employers, including in the business industry, are more accepting to this form of higher education.

A 2009 poll conducted by Babson Survey Research Group showed that more than 1,700 schools nationwide have fully online degree programs available for students, according U.S. News and World Report. While these schools provide interested individuals with plenty of choices, prospective students may want to do research before choosing a school.

When deciding on a school to enroll in, students should first make sure the academic institution of their choosing is an accredited establishment that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, the news source reports. This acknowledgment will improve a degree holder's chances of being hired by a future employer. It is also recommended that individuals look into online education programs that are the same as the degrees offered on campus.
