Students who wish to pursue higher education in the hospitality field could discover that some schools are launching new campuses to focus on a wider variety of cuisines. For example, the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) recently expanded its offerings in a newly built establishment.
Individuals who are in the food service industry will now have the opportunity to gain the skills they will need to move forward in the workplace through this school, as well as other institutions that offer similar programs. CIA's campus will focus on Latin American cuisines. Upon graduation, students will have completed the Culinary Arts Certificate Program.
The campus' expansion includes new teaching and skills kitchens as well as a separate space in which students will learn about the cooking techniques of Mexico and Latin America. Outside, the facility also has equipment for making wood-fired tortillas and a pit for roasting techniques. A theater for demonstration purposes and a professional bakeshop are also included.
Professionals who are in the restaurant industry may find that similar programs could be beneficial if they would like to open their own business. Enrollees could broaden their knowledge in the culinary industry and learn different cooking techniques. For example, courses in the CIA curriculum are based on topics such as Latin flavors or classic cuisines of Mexico.
