Students who are pursuing a degree in nursing may find a growing demand for professionals with their educational background. In addition to increased job availability, future degree holders may have the chance to work at some of the top-ranked hospitals nationwide.

For example, Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois was recently named to the American Nurses Credential Center's (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program, which honored the healthcare facility for its excellence in nursing care. The hospital was recognized for meeting the standards set by the ANCC for outstanding patient services, which only about 6 percent of the hospitals in the U.S have achieved.

Among the requirements that are needed to receive the Magnet status, hospitals must prove that their patients haveconfidence in the care they are receiving. Another qualification is a stable hiring process of nurses and low job turnover in the hospital, which creates efficient working environment with veteran professionals.

Angelique Richard, vice president of Patient Care Services at the hospital, stated that "we have an extremely talented group of nurses and healthcare professionals who unceasingly deliver quality, patient-centered care." She added that "Magnet designation is the culmination of hard work and collaboration driven by our desire to meet and exceed our patients' expectations."

Government statistics suggest that the employment of nurses is expected to increase by 22 percent, and the demand will create approximately 581,500 new jobs nationwide.ADNFCR-3211-ID-19862360-ADNFCR
