Computer engineering programs boast high-quality curricula

Individuals who are hoping to obtain a degree in computer engineering have new opportunities to receive a quality education in Texas.

The computer engineering program at St. Mary’s University has been accredited for the first time in its history. The school’s electrical and industrial engineering programs received renewal for their credentials.

Accreditation services were provided by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the ABET, which is a qualified accrediting agency for the applied science, computing, engineering, and technology fields.

As an organization, ABET has standards that go beyond quality, as it expects schools to grow and expand their programs as the industries around them change.

The development of quality workers in computer engineering is important in the current job landscape, as the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects computer software engineering to become one of the fastest-growing career fields over the next eight years. The industry is slated to grow by 21 percent during this time.

Prospects for computer engineers holding a bachelor’s degree are especially high, as entry-level positions are expected to grow as a high percentage of current workers transition into managerial roles.

The National Association of Colleges and Employers rate engineers and computer science majors at the top of careers in terms of starting salary for graduates.ADNFCR-3211-ID-19930904-ADNFCR
