Students who are pursing an associate, bachelors or masters degree in business may find that a career in this field can provide a variety of benefits, including winning national awards in honor of their professional success and role in the industry.
The College of William and Mary Mason School of Business will give Kathleen D. Durdin this year's Daniel C. Lewis Volunteer Service Award, which will be presented at the commencement ceremony. The recipient of this annual award is recognized for their services and contributions to the school.
A director of learning and professional development at Navigant Consulting, Durdin is the chair of the school's undergraduate program Business Partners Board, and a member of the Mason School's foundation board of trustees. She also helped to launch the Navigant Case Competition, which challenges students to present business ideas using the knowledge they're learning in the classroom.
"[Durdin] has enhanced our students' educational experiences through the Navigant Case Competition [and] has spearheaded the engagement of alumni through her leadership of our Business Partners Board," said Lawrence B. Pulley, dean of the business school. He added that "she is also influencing the implementation of strategic initiatives for the school through her role on our Foundation Board of Trustees."
