To increase enrollment in certain degree programs, such as those in business, many schools have created scholarship opportunities for prospective students who would like to pursue these fields of study. Awarding financial assistance to future degree holders allows them to earn an education at an affordable cost.
Chapman University's Argyros School of Business and Economics in California announced the launching of the Tomorrow's Leaders Scholarship program, which will award one $57,500 scholarship for the school's Flex MBA degree program, according to OCMetro.com. Nominations are now being accepted via the school's website.
Once nominated, eligible candidates will receive an email and will be asked to submit an essay describing how they would use the MBA degree to impact the business community in Orange County. If chosen to be a finalist, participants will then be required to submit an application for admission to the Flex MBA degree program and be accepted.
Arthur Kraft, dean of the business school, told the news source the scholarship program "aims to tap the best and brightest individuals in Orange County and give them the opportunity to make a significant, positive impact on the local business community."
May 11 is the last day nominations will be accepted. The winner of the scholarship will be announced at an on-campus event of June 11.
In 2008, the average annual salaries for MBA degree holders ranged from $73,510 to $171,583 in 2008, depending on the field, position and years of experience, according to PayScale.com, a research company.
