Certificate programs may offer more specializations for business, information technology students

Individuals who are looking into industries with a wide variety of job opportunities may consider enrolling in degree programs in business information and technology (IT). Because of the competitive nature of these sectors, business and IT employers are looking for individuals who have obtained degrees in several different concentrations.

For example, academic officials from Kaplan University have announced 15 new certificate programs for those interested in careers in business or information technology (IT). In addition to these offerings, the school has also launched two undergraduate IT degrees and a masters program in management.

Students who are pursuing careers in business have the opportunity to specialize in accounting, entrepreneurial studies, human resources, national security administration and project management.

Those who enroll in the IT certificates programs will be prepared for jobs in computer forensics, database management, information security, internet web design and operating systems.

The new certificate programs will "enable students to become current and strengthen their skills so they can enter new careers or advance in their current profession without completing another degree," said Betty Vandenbosch, vice president of business and technology at Kaplan.

Over the next eight years, the employment of computer and information systems professionals is expected to grow by 17 percent, and an estimated 49,500 new jobs will be created nationwide, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports.ADNFCR-3211-ID-19914870-ADNFCR
