As a result of the growing demand across the country for professionals with a background in human resources (HR), more employers are looking to hire individuals with at least a bachelors degree in this field. In an effort to make obtaining further certification in this field more attainable, industry organizations are offering scholarships and courses for these professionals.
For instance, WorldatWork, an international workforce benefits organization, has named 20 additional HR employees as the winners of its annual scholarships, which provide recipients with financial assistance towards enrollment in the association's one-year certificate program. Individuals who receive these scholarships can become licensed in several areas of HR, including benefits, compensation, remuneration and work-life certification.
Bonnie Kabin, vice president of professional development at the organization, stated that "knowing how valuable training and certification can be to career progression, WorldatWork wanted to do more to get people on the path to certification in light of current financial and economic constraints."
Over the next eight years, government statistics report the employment of these professionals is expected to grow by 22 percent, and an estimated 197,400 new jobs will be created nationwide.
