Central Pennsylvania adds new online degree programs

As the number of nontraditional students continues to grow, more schools are launching distance learning opportunities. Individuals studying online can take advantage of a course schedule that is flexible, allowing them to keep up with their daily responsibilities.

Central Pennsylvania College has announced it will now offer two new online programs, a bachelors degree in homeland security and an associate degree in computer information systems. The school has also launched a certificate program through distance learning that specializes in intelligence analysis.

More than 20 percent of the school's student body is enrolled in the 250 distance learning programs offered by the school.

Erika Wilkinson, the online education coordinator at the college, stated that "the bachelor's degree in homeland security management and the associate degree in computer information systems are now both fully-supported online, and allow our students the flexibility to earn their degree while continuing to meet the demands of their personal lives."

Approximately 4.6 million students were enrolled in at least one online course in the fall of 2008, according to the 2009 Sloan Survey.ADNFCR-3211-ID-19812406-ADNFCR
