As a result of the business industry's continuous evolution, skills needed for many careers in that sector require professionals to complete advanced degree programs. In an effort to improve the availability of these opportunities, some schools are adding more programs to the current offerings.

Northcentral University has added another doctor of business administration degree (DBA) to its distance learning, bringing the school's total of these web-based offerings to 18 programs. Over the last couple of years, the DBA has become increasing recognized by international and national corporations.

However, this type of degree is research-based and gives enrollees a better understanding of managerial challenges taking place in today's business industry. The curriculum has been designed to benefit professionals in public and private administrative roles by improving their leaderships capabilities in a business environment.

Students can choose from several specializations, including advanced accounting, applied computer science, criminal justice, healthcare administration, human resources management, industrial organizational psychology, engineering and technology administration, marketing and public relations.

Clinton Gardner, president of the university, stated that "in many areas of specialization, the traditional [MBA] degree is no longer the final stage of study." He added that "the amount of information to learn in specific subject areas has become so great that a doctoral degree is required for mastery of the field."ADNFCR-3211-ID-19925044-ADNFCR
