To help provide more accessible educational opportunities for students interested in pursuing careers in health administration, many schools are expanding the number of available courses and degrees.
Capella University recently announced the addition of three new online degree programs, a doctoral degree in public health as well as a doctoral and masters degree in health administration. The school hopes with the launching of these new educational opportunities, it will be able to promote the benefits of earning these degrees, including the high employment demand, which in turn may provide job seekers with a more enhanced resume.
Within the doctoral degree programs, students can specialize in general health administration, healthcare leadership, health policy and advocacy, epidemiology and health advocacy and leadership. Future degree holders who enroll in the new masters program can specialize in general health administration, healthcare operations and health policy.
Suzanne Holmes, interim co-dean of the school of public service leadership at Capella University, stated that "our new degrees are designed to develop the leadership, collaboration, and communication skills needed by health care leaders in both the public and private sectors."
Government analysts say that the employment of medical and health services managers is expected to increase by 16 percent, and will create an estimated 45,400 new jobs.
