Academic partnerships lead to improved bachelor degree availability for nurses

The demand for nurses across the country has led many employers require professionals to complete bachelors programs. In an effort to improve access to these academic offerings in underserved areas, some schools are combining efforts to create these opportunities.

Academic officials from American Public University in West Virginia have announced the partnership with American Military University to launch a bachelors degree in nursing, which is slated to begin in January 2011. Acceptance into the new program is expected to start the first week of September.

The schools created this educational opportunity to increase the availability of programs for those looking to advance their nursing skills. This degree has been designed to benefit current professionals with an associate degree and who are a licensed registered nurse.

Enrollees will have the chance to specialize in three areas, including practitioner, scientists and administrator. Curriculum will include a total of 10 courses, which will include science of evidence-based practice, community health as well as scholarship and trends in healthcare.

Government analysts report that in 2008, the salaries of nurses ranged from $43,410 to $92,240 per year.ADNFCR-3211-ID-19912106-ADNFCR
